Displaced civilians on a hillside
Central Africa is a region whose people and resources are increasingly devastated by conflict. Since the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, Hutu rebels have spread throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) killing civilians in masses. Burundi, DRC, Central Africa Republic, Rwanda, Southern Sudan, and Uganda are among the most troubled countries in the region. These people are devastated by war, hunger, poverty, and diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, Ebola, tuberculosis, and sleeping disease.
